Welcome to HIGA!

Meeting of young speakers of minoritized languages

Foto grup HIGA 2025_edited.jpg

HIGA is a meeting of young minority language speakers created in Vitoria-Gasteiz (Basque Country) with the aim of promoting linguistic diversity and linguistic activism. It is much more than just a meeting, it is a space for collaboration, learning and action for young people who are between 18 and 35 years old committed to the revitalization of languages.

HIGA offers a unique opportunity to connect young people from all over the world who share the same challenge, to promote linguistic revitalization and to create collaborative networks between young people from minority language communities around the world: to keep their languages and cultures alive in an increasingly globalised world.

Join us from July 14th to 18th, 2025, and be a part of this transformative experience

The program will include sessions on language grief, community-led revitalization, children’s materials, language technology, urban revitalization strategies, storytelling, language confidence, digital resources, and documentation through audio recording.
